Kafka in Berlin
Franz Kafka (1883–1924), a German-language Jewish writer from Prague, first visited Berlin in 1910 and lived here from September 1923 to March 1924. With Dora Diamant, he sought an independent life beyond Prague. His rented rooms, letters and walks reveal Berlin as a place of freedom, intimacy and uncertainty, adding a quieter literary history to the city’s streets.
